The doctors at Michigan Oral Surgeons can replace a full arch of teeth with dental implants through the All-on-4® Treatment Concept at our practice located in Ann Arbor, Plymouth, and Adrian, MI.
Individual dental implants are a fantastic solution for restoring single tooth sites; however, restoring a full arch of missing teeth through dental implants can be costly and involve an extended treatment process.
Fortunately, surgical advances have provided patients that are missing a full arch of teeth a permanent replacement: a full-arch replacement in the All-on-4® Treatment Concept.
The All-on-4® Treatment Concept is a groundbreaking solution for patients who have lost (or are in the process of losing) an entire upper or lower arch of teeth. With the All-on-4® Treatment Concept, patients can restore an entire arch of teeth with an implant-supported prosthesis. Patients can begin to experience some of the benefits of their new teeth immediately following the implant placement. Most patients express that tooth restoration using the All-on-4® Treatment Concept looks, feels, and functions just like their natural, healthy teeth, which makes it such an appealing option. Unlike dentures, the All-on-4® Treatment Concept secures dentures in place within the jaw using four high-quality, medical-grade titanium implants. While the final prosthetic bridge is carefully designed, patients will receive a temporary set of teeth and enjoy the benefit of new teeth immediately. Once the healing period is complete, and the final prosthesis is placed, patients regain the ability to eat, speak, and smile comfortably with renewed confidence.
What are the benefits of All-on-4® Treatment Concept?
When patients have lost the majority of their teeth, it is difficult to select a cost-effective replacement option which restores both function and aesthetics to the mouth. Patients who choose the All-on-4® Treatment Concept enjoy many benefits not provided by other restoration procedures, including
- Elimination of pain caused by decaying or damaged teeth
- A prosthesis which looks and feels like one’s natural teeth
- Prevention of bone loss caused by missing teeth
- A natural-looking smile
- A comfortable and stable prosthesis that allows patients to eat whatever they want
Research into the strength of the implants and restorative materials has demonstrated the safety and success of this treatment option.
Am I a good candidate for the All-on-4® Treatment Concept?
The All-on-4® Treatment Concept for a full-arch dental restoration is ideal for patients suffering from severely broken down dentition or who are missing all or most of their natural teeth. While many patients are unable to receive traditional replacement options (like a fixed bridge) they are still able to receive this unique treatment. If you possess the following characteristics, you may be a candidate for the All-on-4® Treatment Concept:
- You have several failing or missing teeth.
- You wear dentures.
- You are in need of multiple dental implants.
- You are missing an entire upper or lower arch of teeth.
What can I expect during the All-on-4® Treatment Concept?
During the initial consultation, our oral surgeons will review your medical history and perform an oral examination of any remaining teeth and the gums. With our advanced, in-office, cone beam CAT Scan imaging technology (CBCT), we can analyze the structure of the jaw and locate the bone needed for the placement of dental implants. Very accurate dental implant placement guides made with computer-aided design techniques (Nobel Guide) and 3D printing technology enable the precise placement of dental implants into available bone. This technique not only reduces the amount of surgery and recovery time, it can reduce or eliminate the need for bone grafting. The use of four dental implants in this manner is the most economical way to replace a full arch of teeth with an implant-supported prosthesis.
During the first procedure, the dental implants are surgically inserted into the jaw. You will receive a temporary set of teeth, which will be affixed to the dental implants. It is not uncommon to hear this procedure referred to as teeth in an hour because the temporary set of teeth is placed during the first procedure, immediately restore the aesthetics of the mouth. Patients will experience a period of healing to allow the dental implants to properly fuse with the jaw bone prior to the attachment of the final prosthesis. Once the dental implants are secure and anchored to the bone, the temporary denture is removed and the permanent set of replacement teeth are attached to the abutments.
