Targeted Relief and Aesthetic Improvement with Botox®
Botox® is a versatile treatment in oral and maxillofacial surgery that can relieve conditions like TMJ disorders, chronic facial pain, and teeth grinding. It offers dual benefits by providing targeted relief for these chronic conditions while also addressing aesthetic concerns, allowing patients to achieve improved comfort and confidence with a simple, effective treatment.
Benefits of Botox® Treatment
Patients who choose Botox® enjoy many benefits not provided by other treatments, including:
Relaxation of overactive muscles to improve oral function, comfort, and appearance
A convenient, minimally invasive approach that requires absolutely no downtime
Long-lasting relief from chronic pain and tension headaches that often resist other treatments
A reduction in excessive muscle contractions that cause dental wear
Is Botox® the Right Choice for Me?
If you have been diagnosed with temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorder or bruxism (teeth grinding), Botox® can be injected directly into the masseter and temporalis muscles. By blocking nerve signals, it reduces the excessive muscle contractions causing your pain. Before treatment, our surgeons will perform a detailed consultation to confirm Botox® is the right solution for your specific needs, review your medical history, and map out the precise injection sites required to achieve your goals.
Your Simple, Non-Surgical Treatment Process
Before the procedure: We will customize your treatment plan. You should avoid blood-thinning medications for a few days before the procedure, as this minimizes the potential for bruising.
During the procedure: Your surgeon will use a very fine needle to administer small, precise amounts of Botox® into the targeted muscles. The procedure takes less than 30 minutes and is generally well-tolerated, with most patients describing it as just a brief, mild sting or pinch.
After the procedure: There is zero required downtime, making this a true “lunchtime procedure”. You may notice minor temporary redness, swelling, or pinpoint bruising, but you can return to work or most daily activities immediately. We simply advise that you avoid rubbing the injection sites and refrain from strenuous exercise for the first 24 hours. The maximum therapeutic effects typically appear within 10 to 14 days and last for 3 to 4 months.
When administered
correctly by a specialist, therapeutic Botox® targeting the jaw muscles will not significantly affect your ability to chew, smile, or make general facial expressions. The injections are precisely placed to target specific overactive muscles while leaving surrounding muscles to function normally.
Because the effects of Botox® typically last between 3 to 4 months, repeat treatments are recommended every few months to maintain continuous pain relief or smooth skin
