Doctors of Michigan Oral Surgeons donate time and expertise to help those in need and give back to community
Ann Arbor, MI (December 3, 2015)—For those who cannot afford dental procedures, decayed, broken and missing teeth can lead to chronic pain, low self-esteem, and difficulty eating. Oral and maxillofacial surgeons realize that good oral health can improve a person’s quality of life, which is why doctors Dalbert W. Fear, Roger P. Hitchcock, and Paul C. Lopez of Michigan Oral Surgeons volunteer their services and help those in need this holiday season and throughout the year.
Dr. Lopez and Dr. Fear will each provide one day of oral surgery care for Hope Dental Clinic of Ypsilanti at their private practice locations this December. Hope Dental Clinic aims to restore patients’ oral health, dignity, and self-confidence by providing dental care to those who cannot afford the procedures or insurance they need. The doctors hope to help at least 10 patients each during their time volunteering by providing teeth extractions, wisdom teeth extractions, and other services to restore the oral health of Hope patients, providing all of the necessary equipment, supplies, and staff. Dr. Hitchcock regularly donates his time, staff and equipment to patients from the Jewish Dental Clinic, which, like the Hope Clinic, provides all aspects of dental care to those in need who cannot afford treatment. Oral surgeons undergo years of additional training to master the safe extraction of teeth and the administration of anesthesia, which makes them extremely valuable to the charitable organization.
According to Dr. Fear, “Our mission at Michigan Oral Surgeons has always been to improve the oral health of the communities we serve, and it’s so rewarding to work with local organizations that share a similar goal regarding his work with the clinic. Not being able to afford the proper care for your child is devastating. Giving back to this community that has supported our practice is our way of saying thank you.” Doctors Fear, Hitchcock, and Lopez have been volunteering their time and facilities with Hope Dental Clinic, the Jewish Dental Clinic, and other organizations in need for years, treating emergency cases as well as participating in annual oral surgery days with the Hope staff.
Hope Medical and Dental Clinic has been providing care to community members in need since 1982. They rely on volunteer dental professionals like the doctors of Michigan Oral Surgeons to work alongside their staff of dentists and hygienists and provide high-quality care to those in need. The dental clinic takes new patients during specific registration times, and more information can be found on their website or by calling (734) 480-9575.
