Exposure of Impacted Teeth Reviews
When teeth are unable to erupt into their proper position, they can often get stuck in or under the gums, at which point they are said to be impacted. The most common impacted teeth, besides wisdom teeth, are the canine teeth, which are the pointy teeth located in the front of the mouth. Canine teeth are essential to proper oral function; they assist in the proper alignment of adjacent teeth, and they are also used for tearing off food. To treat an impacted tooth, your oral surgeon will work with your orthodontist to expose the tooth and then bond a chain so that the tooth can be pulled into its proper position.
The exposure and bonding procedure is often performed on teens and younger patients around the time they get braces and is a fairly simple procedure. We have had several patients come in with impacted canines that we were able to successfully bring down into their proper position in the dental arch through this procedure.
